2011 US Open Qualifier
Recap of the day - David absolutely pounded the ball off of the tee. The first 18 was all fairways and greens, unfortunately not many putts were falling for him. He shot 69, but he really played incredible and should have shot 66 or better. Then David played consistently in the second 18, however his drives were just narrowly missing the fairways and he had many shots from the rough and bunkers - this led to the 4-over result.
If you are a David Duval fan then there continues to be many reasons to be excited about his golf game. His length off of the tee is even greater than before, and his irons are as solid and consistent as ever. If the putter starts working, then lookout for a Top-10 finish or even a win this PGA Tour season.
David wanted to pass along the following to you - "I am working very hard out here and I want you all to know that I am very close to breaking through again."
Also, he said "Say 'Thank You' to all of the fans that are pulling for me."
He was disappointed that he did not qualify, and it was the missed putts and the double-bogey on the Par 5 at Brookside that really ended the hopes of qualifying this year. But truly his golf game is looking so good right now, and it is only a matter of time until he wins again on the PGA Tour. Keep watching, and try to get to an event this season to see for yourself.
